Eerie Brighton-based psychedelic band big long sun have revealed their new single, ‘when the mood’s right’. The band have developed a unique sonic palette with this track, with a cheap 90s synth providing chirpy interjections and an insistent two-bar bass loop locking the track into a singular harmonic world. Its falsetto chorus hook is the track’s centrepiece, providing an earworm that is both simple and memorable. “With this track I wanted to make a paranoid love song,” explains main man Jamie Broughton. “One that is simultaneously indifferent and overbearing.” The band are playing live around the UK this summer and are gearing up to release their album, whatever (whatever), on July 24th, 2025, via Miohmi Records. -Dan Peeke
